Now that my time in college is quickly dwindling, I have recently been reflecting on my time here and have thought of a few things I will truly miss…and then some things I will not miss so much. I truly have enjoyed my college career and I will be driving away from my little 289 square foot apartment the day after I graduate with bittersweet feelings. I have had some great memories in this little apartment in this little town, and I really will miss the relationships I have formed here. The truth is, I do not know the next time I will be back here, and that is a weird nugget of information to accept when this has been my home for the past few years.
Things I Will Miss
- Living only four blocks from campus and being able to walk anywhere I need to go (besides the grocery store)
- Being able to go to home any time I want and take a nap just ‘cause I feel like it
- Being only two hours from my parents’ house and being able to hop in the car and get there in no time
- The Rock Café – food buffets, including Mongolian Barbeque available at virtually any time of the day
- Not having class until 9:00 AM (or later) and therefore being able to stay up and sleep in
- Two words: Student Discounts
- Friends
- Architecture lab times with my professor and classmates
Things I Won’t Miss
- Walking through a cloud of cigarette smoke every time I have to enter the Granger Building
- Signing my life away to Sallie Mae
- Living off of summer income for the entire school year, similar to a squirrel savings nuts for the long, cold winter
- Everything. Every. Where.
- Having to walk to class in the middle of winter when it’s -28° out and school isn’t canceled and my hair literally freezes into icicles if even slightly wet
